FOTA System Update

You can use your smartphone to update the Gogoro Smartscooter™ to the newest system version. The steps are as follows:

  • When a new system version is available for download, the Gogoro app will notify you with the smart card.
  • Unlock your Smartscooter™ and confirm that your phone is connected to your Smartscooter™ using a Bluetooth connection (the "iQ System™ smart connect" icon on the dashboard will light up).
  • Tab the "Smartscooter update required" smart card and follow the instructions on the app screen to upload the new system version to your Smartscooter™. It requires several minutes for the upload and the progress bar will be displayed on your phone. Please make sure that your phone stays connected to the Smartscooter™ using Bluetooth connection until the upload is completed.
  • After the new system version is uploaded, you can select "Now" or "Update later".
  • If you select "Now":
    • The Smartscooter™ will automatically power off, lock, and perform a system update.
    • Wait until the update is complete (approximately 15 minutes), the Smartscooter™ will automatically unlock and also send the message "Update successful, come and enjoy your all new Gogoro!" message to your phone once through Bluetooth connection. If your phone is not connected to the Smartscooter™ at this time, you will not receive the "Update successful" message.
  • If you select "Later":
    • The system will automatically update the system at 04:00am when you are not using the Smartscooter™.
    • When the update is complete, the next time you unlock the Smartscooter™ the "Update successful" message will be sent to your phone once through Bluetooth connection. If your phone is not connected to the Smartscooter™ at this time, you will not receive the "Update successful" message.
  • Note: The new system version is uploaded to the Smartscooter™ using Bluetooth connection; therefore, you must ensure that your phone is within a few meters range with the Smartscooter™ during the upload process in order to maintain Bluetooth connection.
  • Note: If you did not receive the "Update successful" message after performing system update, please lock the Smartscooter™ and then unlock it again and confirm Bluetooth connection is established. You will receive the message if the update is successful.
  • If you select "Update now", when the system update is complete, the Smartscooter™ will unlock automatically. Therefore, do not select "Now" if the Smartscooter™ might get stolen where it is parked, or if you are unsure whether you will be around when it automatically unlocks.
